Stewardship Explained

Many of us have heard during our lifetime that God will not be outdone in generosity. John 3:16 tells us that “God so loved the world that he gave his only Son.”  When we comprehend this truth, our hearts are so touched by His love that we want to show our appreciation. It is this spirit of gratitude that prompts us to ask the question, “What can I do?”

Although we can never repay God for His generosity, everyday we make choices. Can you imagine what the world would be like if Christians chose to be truly generous with their resources of time, talent and/or treasure?

In chapter 3: 2-3a, 5-6, St. Paul writes in his letter to the Ephesians, “Brothers and Sisters: You have heard of the stewardship of God’s grace that was given to me for your benefit, namely, that the mystery was made known to me by revelation.  It was not made known to people in other generations as it has now been revealed to his holy apostles and prophets by the Spirit: that the Gentiles are coheirs, members of the same body, and copartners in the promise in Christ Jesus through the gospel.”

After reading this passage to the Ephesians, it is easy to see why Magnificat has chosen to be a herald of the Good News. We want everyone to know that they can be copartners in the promise in Christ Jesus through the gospel. With the grace of God and the generosity of people like you, we hope to provide for all of God’s children opportunities to hear the message and grow in holiness through our chapter meals, retreats, seminars, the internet, radio, TV, and publications. The desire of our hearts is that the mystery be made known to our families, friends, neighbors and yes, even to the ends of the earth.

The greatest gift you can give is prayer. It is the fuel that ignites and keeps the fire burning. In addition to prayer, it takes resources to provide these opportunities to grow closer to the Lord. “Where your treasure is, there also will your heart be.”  Matthew 6:21. Our treasure is usually allocated according to our priorities. We would be most grateful if you would make Magnificat one of your priorities, today and always.

This is your opportunity to assist Magnificat in helping women be more and more open to the Holy Spirit and spread the Good News around the world. The Second Vatican Council message to women on December 8, 1965 said, “… women impregnated with the Spirit of the Gospel can do much to aid mankind in not falling.”

Let us not forget, it took only one solitary life to change the world! May you be God’s instrument. Bless you for your generous heart.
