GUEST SPEAKER: Fr. John Maria Devaney O.P.

Fr. John Maria Devaney, OP is a Dominican Friar of the Province
of St. Joseph. After ordination in 2015, Fr. John served as a
hospital chaplain, including on the front lines of the Covid-19
crisis, on the Upper Eastside of Manhattan as part of the
Dominican Health Care Ministry until the Summer of 2022 later
moving to St. Pius V on October 28th, the Feast of St. Jude 2023.

Fr. John was stationed in Hanover, NH at St. Dennis Parish and
Aquinas House Catholic Ministry at Dartmouth College. Also, for
almost a decade, Fr. John has also hosted a weekly SiriusXM
satellite radio show entitled “Word to Life” on The Catholic
Channel.

On a special note, since the Extraordinary Jubilee Year of Mercy,
Fr. John Maria was appointed by Pope Francis to serve the
Church as a Missionary of Mercy with the commission to be a
“living sign” of the Father’s welcome to all those in search of his
forgiveness…” (Misericordiae Vultus #18). Fr. John originally hails
from Clinton, NJ and is the youngest of three children. He
attended Emerson College in Boston and worked in radio
broadcasting and concert/music festival producing for a decade
and half before entering the Dominican Order.

I am now delighted to serve God and his people as pastor of St.
Pius V Parish as a priest of Jesus Christ and a son of St. Dominic.
I am also excited to follow in the footsteps of a century plus of
my fellow friars who have shepherded before me. Let us look to
our patron, Pope St. Pius V, and stay close to Our Lady and her
Rosary in prayer and complete abandonment to Divine
Providence in Providence!!” We are privileged to have this
especially gifted teacher, speaker, and broadcaster share his
incredible journey.
