Our Guest Speaker: Fr. Mark Dunmire
Fr. Mark Dunmire was ordained to the presbyterate in 2020 amidst a pandemic. His home parish is St. Margaret Mary in Lower Burrell. He attended St. Mark Seminary and Gannon University for his Pre-Theology studies before moving on to St. Mary Seminary and University at Roland Park, Baltimore for major seminary. In 2022, after just two short years of active ministry, Father Mark’s colon burst, putting him in complete sepsis and within an estimated 45 minutes until death. Upon the operating table, he had a near-death experience with God, and He told him how much He needed Fr. Mark for ministry, and that he would never be alone. Fr. Mark recalls how he explicitly felt God the Father’s love and mercy and kindness in this experience, most especially when Fr. Mark was being asked his willingness to partake in God’s plan, not ever forced.
When Fr. Mark woke up, he remembers feeling the colostomy bag on his stomach and having this distinct thought: “Thank you so much God for saving my life, but this sucks!” After a year or so of recovery and removal of the bag, Fr. Mark has been reinvigorated with a great love of ministry and has been going strong ever since, sharing his story regularly. Upon reflection, Fr. Mark has had so many wonderful spiritual experiences with God, and has recognized how so many of his prayers have been answered! Fr. Mark is presently assigned as Pastoral Supply to the partner parishes of St. Sylvester, Slickville, St. Ambrose, Avonmore, and St. Matthew, Saltsburg, where he is beloved by his parishioners.
Prayer teams are available following the meal.
Religious books and CD’s may be available at the meal.
Since the day is designed to speak to the hearts of women, free of distractions, it is respectfully requested that young children not be in attendance.
