“Therefore, behold I will allure her, and will lead her into the wilderness: and I will speak to her heart.”
–Hosea 2:14

Sister Meredith Boquiren, O.C.D., is a Carmelite Sister of the Most Sacred Heart of Los Angeles. Born in the Philippines, moved to Los Angeles with her family and earned a BA in Urban Studies and Planning from UC San Diego. She worked in environmental consulting and co-owned an apparel business with her sister and friends.

During this period, her faith was not initially active. After a profound encounter with the Lord, she felt called to religious life, grounded in a deeper understanding of women’s dignity and their role in bringing God’s love and healing to His children.

Sister Meredith entered Carmel in 2008, made her final profession in 2018, and has served as an administrative assistant in healthcare, a teacher, and development staff for her congregation’s Office of Mission Advancement. She is currently the Retreat Directress at Sacred Heart Retreat House. She is grateful to God for calling her to religious life and desires to help others encounter His unconditional, healing love!

History of Orange Diocese Magnificat Queen of Peace Chapter

Est. 1992

In 1991, a group of women attending Southern California Renewal Communities (SCRC) Charismatic Convention, was inspired by a priest speaking about Magnificat, a Ministry to Catholic Women. The Holy Spirit touched the hearts of Pat Rensing, Anita Williams, Billie Walter and Barbara Clark and made the decision to launch Magnificat in the Orange Diocese. Fr. Eamon O’Gorman was its first Spiritual Advisor. Bishop McFarland approved Magnificat for the Orange Diocese and Our Lady Queen of Peace Chapter was born!

The first OC Magnificat Prayer breakfast took place at the Holy Family Cathedral Parish Hall in Orange, CA. in February 1992. The event was a potluck style of prayer breakfast. The members of Magnificat continued to grow in numbers, hence, a bigger space was required to accommodate more.

We are proud to be celebrating 30 years of OC Magnificat! Our Lady’s mantle has protected and guided our Chapter, and we sing along with her, “The Almighty has done great thing for us, and Holy is His name!”
