Our Guest Speaker: Janice Charbonnet

Janice Charbonnet was born and raised in New Brunswick, Canada and worked various public relations positions ending as a PR coordinator for a Canadian Politian. In 1996, she felt called to quit her job and serve as a missionary with NET Ministries, traveling with a team across the US preaching the Gospel to thousands of teenagers. Her experience set her on fire for the Gospel and changed the direction of her life. But she began to wrestle with pains from her past and misconceptions about how the Catholic Church sees women. After a life-changing encounter with the writings of Pope John Paul II, her agonizing doubts were answered and she was launched on a road of inner healing. The Holy Spirit put a passion deep in her heart for ministering to women.
She leads the women’s ministry team for the Catholic Charismatic Renewal of New Orleans, leads marriage retreats with her husband, Jean, and loves to draw from her life as a mother of five children when teaching and preaching. She has ministered to large and small groups with both humor and humility from coast to coast and loves to preach freedom in the power of the Holy Spirit as Psalm 18 says, “He set me free in the open because he loves me.”
Religious books and CD’s may be available at the meal.
Since the day is designed to speak to the hearts of women, free of distractions, it is respectfully requested that young children not be in attendance.

History of Antelope Valley Chapter of Magnificat
(Diocese of Los Angeles, California) Established 2011. After a year of prayer, listening for guidance from the Holy Spirit and fellowship with many women, the first Antelope Valley Magnificat Meal was held on May 31st, 2008, the feast of the Visitation. We met at the John P. Eliopulos Center in Lancaster, CA. One hundred and forty-three guests attended. Our speaker was Karen Moses.
Through the months of prayer and preparation things that seemed difficult to us fell together in simple ways thanks to the Holy Spirit who was always with us providing assistance.
Forming a Service Team was one of our first duties, and again through the prompting of the Holy Spirit, six women volunteered at one prayer meeting. We only needed five, but the Holy Spirit thought six would be perfect and it was.
These women served on the Service Team for 12 years. The original team was blessed with Rita Trabold, Christine Anderson, Joan Brautigam, Dorothy Schoespner, Marie Flores, and Mary Denning. The COVID Pandemic in 2020 brought a hiatus to our meals but not for long since a new service team was formed in 2022. God was waiting for us and He is the reason we come together.
