We welcome you to the webpage of the Metairie Chapter (ministry Mother Chapter) in Louisiana. These are exciting times that we live in and Magnificat was begun in 1981 for such a time as this. There are now over 100 chapters throughout the United States and its territories and in many foreign countries.
Metairie Magnificat Breakfast
March 7, 2026
Location
Knights of Columbus
St. Jerome Council No. 6746
3310 Florida Ave. and 33rd Street
Kenner, LA 70065
Speaker: Carlina Guiterrez Doubleday

After finishing high school, she moved to the United States, where she married Roberto Arturo Doubleday. Her husband worked hard to support his family, and Carlina dedicated herself tirelessly to raising their six children. During his adolescence, one of their sons, John Andrew, began to drink excessively (due to unhealthy friendships). This marked the beginning of this family’s spiritual struggle. John was getting deeper and deeper into the world not only of alcohol, but also of drugs. It was heartbreaking to see their son lost to addiction.
Until one day something far more serious happened, something that marked the family forever. But this mother’s constant prayer and pleas for the salvation of her son’s soul never ceased.
With the emotional support of the faith community and the priests, the family clung to Jesus, relying on prayer and hope for their lost child. Then, after 17 long years, a miracle occurred that impacted not only Carlina’s family but many others who never lost faith in God.
Come and listen to this testimony of a mother who never gave up, never lost her joy or her faith in the One who can do all things, who is Our Lord, Jesus Christ.

History of Magnificat Metairie, Mother Chapter
(Archdiocese of New Orleans)
The first Magnificat Breakfast was held in New Orleans, LA on Oct. 7, 1981. During the next 6 years expansion of the ministry took place necessitating division of duties between two teams: a central service team to concentrate on expansion and a Metairie service team to plan the MAGNIFICAT Meal locally and have the privilege of being called the “Mother Chapter.”
