OUR GUEST SPEAKER: FR. JON MISKIN
My name is Fr. Jon Miskin, a priest of the diocese of Little Rock. I attended Holy Trinity Seminary in Dallas, Texas for four years where I received a bachelor’s degree in Philosophy and Letters from the University of Dallas. I then attended St. Meinrad Seminary and School of Theology in St. Meinrad, Indiana for four years where I completed my seminary formation and received a master’s degree in Divinity. I was ordained to the priesthood on May 25, 2019. I served my first three years of priesthood as the associate pastor of St. Raphael in Springdale and St. Joseph in Tontitown. I have been serving the last 3 years as pastor of St. Mary’s in Batesville and St. Cecilia in Newport.
A particular bible passage that is meaningful to me is Philippians 2:6-8. It reads “Christ, though he was in the form of God, did not regard equality with God something to be grasped. Rather he emptied himself, taking the form of a slave, coming in human likeness, and found human in appearance, he humbled himself, becoming obedient to death, even death on a cross.” The act of pouring out oneself in such a self-sacrificial way is at the heart of what it means to
love and what we are all called to in our particular vocation. It is a reminder to me in my own priesthood of how I am called to love and sacrifice to God and to His people.
