Guest Speaker: Sister Briege McKenna, OSC
“Whoever loves me will keep my word, and my Father will love him, and we will come to him and make our dwelling with him.” John 14:23
Sister Briege McKenna, OSC, encountered the healing power of God herself over 40 years ago, and since then has ministered hope and healing to countless people all over the world.
Sister Briege was born in Ireland and entered the Sisters of Saint Clare at the age of 15. Following her final vows and after suffering for more than three years with rheumatoid arthritis, she was transferred to her community in Tampa, Florida, hoping that the Florida sunshine would relieve her suffering.
At the age of 24, Sister Briege began attending charismatic prayer meetings and seeking to experience Jesus personally. It was during the celebration of the Eucharist that she “met the risen Jesus, the Jesus of mercy” and was miraculously and instantaneously healed. Some time later she received, in prayer, the gift of healing for which she has become so widely known. In 1974, again during prayer, she was given a deep spiritual insight into the mystery of the call to priesthood. Since then, bishops and priests in many parts of the world have invited her to speak and minister at their retreats and conferences.
Sister Briege ministered to priests in collaboration with Father Kevin Scallon, CM, for over 42 years until his death in June 2018. She now continues this ministry working with Father Pablo Escriva de Romani. Her books “Miracles Do Happen” and “The Power of the Sacraments” have been translated into many languages throughout the world.
Personal Prayer ministry is available after the meal by the Magnificat Service Team.
Confessions will be available at the end of the meal.
Religious books and CDs are available at the meal.
Since the day is designed to speak to the hearts of women, free of distractions, it is respectfully requested that young children not be in attendance.

HISTORY of Joyful Visitation Chapter of Magnificat
(for the Archdiocese of Atlanta)
Olga Myers attended her first Magnificat Breakfast while visiting her sister in Tampa, Florida in 1990. She returned to her hometown of Atlanta, Georgia filled with zeal and joy. After sharing her experience with two other women, Jan Nerone and Elyse O’Kane, they began to pray and pray and pray for discernment of God’s will in bringing Magnificat to Atlanta.
After going through formation and receiving the approval of the local bishop, the first working meeting was held on June 17, 1991. This was followed by a Presentation Tea on February 8, 1992 to introduce Magnificat Joyful Visitation Chapter to the area and to help others discover how they can be a part of this joyful ministry.
The first Magnificat Breakfast was held on May 2, 1992 at All Saints Catholic Church. The speaker was Mary Welch Rogers and over 400 women attended. The first Service Team members were Olga Myers, Jan Nerone, Ann Marie Hendriks and Judy Guilfoil. Fr. William Hickey was their Spiritual Advisor and Elyse O’Kane was placed in charge of the Music Ministry.
