Guest Speaker: Linda Koerner
Linda Koerner, of St. John Neumann Church in Lilburn, was drawn into a lifetime of ministry to teens and families while she and her husband, Greg, were raising their own three children. In Pittsburgh, where they met and married, Linda began with Teens Encounter Christ, serving older teens and young adults.
After the Koerners moved to the Atlanta area, she became youth minister at St. John Neumann. Shepherding of teens and their families closer to Christ has continued in decades of ministry there and at other metro parishes in different roles. She is currently director of religious education at St. John Neumann for EDGE and Life Teen, the middle school and high school youth.
“I really believe my spiritual journey personally began when I was in high school. I loved to go sit in the church when it was totally empty. I felt like the Lord really educated my heart and my mind and my spirit during those times. … I found myself just drawn into helping teenagers know how very much God loves them and cares about them, no matter what the circumstances of their lives,” she said. “There is so much hope in Christ.”
Her faith has been tested as well, she said. “There are tough times in all our lives. … My desire is to share with you, through my experiences, the hope, love, forgiveness and peace that come in knowing the Lord.”

HISTORY of Joyful Visitation Chapter of Magnificat
(for the Archdiocese of Atlanta)
Olga Myers attended her first Magnificat Breakfast while visiting her sister in Tampa, Florida in 1990. She returned to her hometown of Atlanta, Georgia filled with zeal and joy. After sharing her experience with two other women, Jan Nerone and Elyse O’Kane, they began to pray and pray and pray for discernment of God’s will in bringing Magnificat to Atlanta.
After going through formation and receiving the approval of the local bishop, the first working meeting was held on June 17, 1991. This was followed by a Presentation Tea on February 8, 1992 to introduce Magnificat Joyful Visitation Chapter to the area and to help others discover how they could be a part of this joyful ministry.
The first Magnificat Breakfast was held on May 2, 1992 at All Saints Catholic Church. The speaker was Mary Welch Rogers and over 400 women attended. The first Service Team members were Olga Myers, Jan Nerone, Ann Marie Hendriks and Judy Guilfoil. Fr. William Hickey was their Spiritual Advisor and Elyse O’Kane was placed in charge of the Music Ministry.
