About our Guest Speaker: Patti Drake

The name Patti Drake is synonymous with compassion, with love, with service and with courage.

It’s easy to see why when you consider her accomplishments.  She spent 14 years as a radiologic technologist at Radiology Consultants and another 11 years at Baptist Breast Center.  If you polled her patients, you would find that they adored her because of her loving care. Her outlook on life and her compassion gave them the courage they needed to cope with their medical distress.

After choosing to cut back her work schedule, she spent the majority of her time volunteering and caring for her family. Her volunteer time has been dedicated to Christ the King Church and School, Catholic High and Mount St. Mary’s. She was a school Board Member at Christ the King and Catholic High School, on the Diocese of Little Rock school Board and strategic planning committee and was PTO president at MSM. Patti was the Inaugural speaker of the Mercy and Me luncheon in 2011 and shared her story of perseverance through a life changing journey. Patti also shared her story at Holy Souls and Christ the King parishes as well as to the Catholic Business women’s club.

The past ten years, Patti’s career changed. Patti’s daughter Mary was critically injured in an automobile accident in November of 2009. Mary suffered multiple fractures but the most serious of her injuries was a traumatic brain injury. After multiple setbacks and 8 months in the hospital, Mary was discharged home and Patti been has been her caregiver ever since.

Patti and her husband Jim are co-founders of Miracles for Mary, Inc. a foundation created to help families coping with traumatic brain injury. Moved by Mary’s courage and perseverance, and the number of miracles they have witnessed, they decided the name of the foundation should honor her- that somehow and in some way, through the love they share, miracles will happen for others.

God is good…all the time!

HISTORY of Jesus Bread of Life  Chapter of Magnificat

(For the Diocese of Little Rock in Arkansas)

In 2011, while attending daily Mass the Lord spoke to my heart that it was time to bring a Magnificat Chapter to Central Arkansas. This inspiration came from a seed that was planted after attending our Mother Chapter, Mary Ark of the Covenant’s first meal many years earlier. As I prayed, the Lord gave me the names of the women whom he was calling to help start a new chapter. After calling the Central office and inquiring about the process, our group of women met and prayed and worked as we were guided by the Holy Spirit and the Central Service team. Through prayer, prayer and more prayer and discernment our chapter was named “Jesus Bread of Life”. We were dedicated, hardworking and a bit frightened at times as to how all of our prayers would play out but after about a year and a half, we held our first meal and had around 250 wonderful women attend. The original five service team members were: Founder Debbie Eckert Coordinator, Diane Bausom Co-Cordinator, Doris Williams Treasurer, Lib Harrison Historian, and Sarah Thornton, Secretary

Serving on the service team has stretched us and caused growth in many new and wonderful ways. The bonds the we share as sisters are beautiful, strong and uplifting. The joy we experience as we meet new women and help them experience the love of God is beyond human words but awesome, exciting, wonderful, and grateful would be a good start to state how we feel. The love and sisterhood doesn’t stop there! We have made friends from all over the world through this wonderful ministry we call Magnificat. We encourage you to be a part of all that Magnificat has to offer.
