Our Magnificat website is built on the WordPress.org CMS platform and it is hosted on a GDPR compliant server owned by LiquidWeb, an information technology service provider headquartered in Lansing, Michigan.

Magnificat is a private association of the Christian faithful, whose statutes were originally approved by Archbishop Philip Hannan of the Archdiocese of New Orleans and are in accord with the norm of Canon 305.2 of the 1983 Code of Canon Law. While Magnificat began under the auspices of the Archdiocese of New Orleans and was first incorporated in the State of Louisiana, each local chapter functions with permission of the local ordinary and is incorporated in its respective state.

Maintaining the privacy of each individual who visits our site and communicates with us through our site and its contact forms is important in developing and maintaining relationships of trust. It is also important for us to understand how you interact with the site so that we can understand how to best meet your needs for information.

Magnificat, A Ministry to Catholic Women does not rent, sell or otherwise distribute/release any of the information provided by you without your permission except when required by law.

As visitors to our website, you are not required to register for admission to the public side of our website and you are allowed to browse freely of the web content without providing personally identifiable information.

Data we collect

Visitors will typically provide personal information to us when/if they complete a contact us form in order to receive information about Magnificat, the location of a chapter nearest to them and to obtain information regarding starting a chapter in their specific area.

Contact Forms

Magnificat uses WPForms Lite in the construction and deployment of our contact forms. Within this lite plugin, user cookies are not used nor are the IP addresses, browser or the operating system identified. The personal information and requests that you make on the Visitor forms are kept for 6 months for customer services purposes and they are destroyed by shredding. No information on the forms submitted to us is gathered for marketing purposes.

Data We Collect on our forms

Information that we collect on our forms may include such identifiable items such as your full name, street address, home/work/cell phone numbers and email address.

Again this information is for our internal use to service your request and is not shared with any third party entity except as required by law.

Web usage information

Magnificat also obtains anonymous site traffic information provided to us within the Metrics section of the back office of the website provided through the WordPress Software. The Metrics section provides a number of tools that provide statistical information regarding traffic on our website to include but not be limited to: number of unique visitors, number of site visits, and what pages were accessed according to the month of the year, the days of the week, the hours of the day, how long the visitors stayed on the site, and the countries the visitors came from.

The information from these tools provides the site developers/administrators with the understanding of how the site is being used and how we might improve the site to enhance the user experience. The information obtained through these sources (the tools and the plugin) is anonymous and no personally identifiable information such as IP addresses can be linked to specific individuals.

Use of Cookies

A cookie is a small piece of information that a site can store on your computer as a text file. This cookie provides information such as how the site is used, pages visited, and time spend at our website. The information may also include the time and date of the visit and pages visited before and just after leaving our website. The text file is very small and contains a unique identification number that is transferred from a website to a hard drive of a user’s computer to aid the site operators to passively track the user’s behavior on the website.

Comments

Our website does not have a comment section on our webpages therefore there is no collection of information through comments.

How do we use the information obtained?

We use the information obtained to answer your questions from your contact forms and to better serve you, our visitors, through website improvements such as changes in the design and arrangement of our pages to make our site as user-friendly as possible and to better meet the needs of our guests.

The information obtained by us through the cookies enable us to gather important ministry and technical statistics. The cookies help us to trace the paths of our users to our website as they move from one page to another. Our webserver logs allow us to ascertain how many people visit our website and enable us to evaluate our visitor capacity. Again, no personally identifiable information is stored on the cookies and email addresses and names are not identifiable.

How we protect your Data

Magnificat takes seriously the privacy of our visitor’s data. Our staff have been trained in how to handle and protect this data. Regular reviews of our Privacy Policies will be held within our Service Team meetings and any changes to said policies will be placed in writing and training of our Office Staff will be provided relative to privacy issues and expectations. Our Policies and practices ensure that visitor’s personal information is protected. There is limited employee access to the personally identifiable information needed for transactions in our Store.

The Magnificat store is run by Pinnacle Cart online software. Any information sent to Pinnacle Cart, such as items purchased, the amount of the purchase, and mailing information is handled by select employees. All information is kept private and is not distributed to any third party.

Some information, such as that which you send us through the Contact forms may not be secure unless we advise you that security measures will be in place prior to your transmitting the form. This is why we use Pinnacle cart for the processing of your store purchases as that data is encrypted.

Third Parties we receive Data From:

Third parties that we receive information from include WordFence and WordPress Cpanel’s (site back office) Metric tools.

Who we share your data with

In the event that you provide a donation to Magnificat, personally identifiable information is shared with Paypal which is a payment processor. The data that is shared may include personally identifiable information such as your name, address, city, state, zip code, telephone numbers, email addresses and Credit card information. This information is shared with them in order to complete transactions requested by you. See the privacy policy of PayPal.

Media

Images uploaded to the website will be devoid of embedded location data. Images of people have to be approved by the Central Service Team or webmaster before being posted in order to protect the privacy of others. Images of Magnificat approved speakers may be uploaded freely. Most of those are already found within our website.  Speaker pictures and biographies which are used on this site have received prior approval by the respective speaker to publish them on the Chapter webpages of our website.

Visitors to the website can download and extract any location data from the images on the website.

Media items such as logos and graphics are registered trademarks of Magnificat Central Service Team, Inc and are to be used only by licensed Magnificat Chapters. Workshops, conference material, and other documents are also proprietary to Magnificat and are not to be sold or distributed without written permission by Magnificat Central Service Team, Inc.

It is communicated to participants at Magnificat events that their attendance constitutes consent to be recorded/photographed and to the use and distribution of their recording /image by Magnificat and third parties.
